Kuching: Although he still had his injured left knee taped, the World No. 1 men’s singles player Lee Chong Wei who won his fourth All England title last month was looking steady in training on the eve of the Malaysia Open that will be held from April 4-9 at the Perpaduan Negeri Sarawak Stadium, in Kuching, Malaysia.Lee Chong Wei trains at the Sarawak Indoor Stadium. Lee will meet England’s Rajiv Ouseph in the opener and could play either Anders Antonsen from Denmark or Hu Yun from Hong Kong in the second round. However, Lee admitted that other players will try to beat him at his home turf.

“I would like to win my 12th Malaysia Open title, but I am going to play one match at a time. There are a lot of strong players here, and they all wanted to beat me at Malaysia Open,” said Lee.

When asked about his nemesis Lin Dan who had never won the Malaysia Open title, Lee tried to play down the pressure.

“We may meet in the final but there is no guarantee we will both advance to the final. For now, the most important thing is to focus on myself,” added Lee.

In addition to Lee Chong Wei, Daren Liew, Chong Wei Feng, Zulfadli Zulkiffli will also represent Malaysia in the men’s singles category.

The Malaysia Open offers total prize money of USD600,000 (RM2.64 million).
