Kuala Lumpur: Former World No. 1 and the 2007 All England men’s doubles champion Tan Boon Heong has officially married his girlfriend of more than 10 years, Sherlyn Tan Yean Ling on Dec 3rd, 2016.
The couple’s Dec 3rd wedding ceremony was very unique as both the bride and groom were wearing specially-designed Qing dynasty outfits that make that occasion an extremely memorable event by families and friends who attended that celebration.
Tan Boon Heong was also the 2010 Commonwealth Games men’s double gold medal winner, chose to pop the question to his girlfriend during a dinner on June 7th when he was playing at the Australian Open. Tan secretly slipped a “will you marry me” note together with a diamond ring in the middle of a plate to his girlfriend at a restaurant in Sydney.
Prior to last Saturday’s Qing Dynasty style wedding, they have performed a registration ceremony on Oct 24 which was attended by some 50 close family members and several VIPs.
They will hold an official wedding reception at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur on December 11th.
