Kuala Lumpur: Muar City BC, the Malaysia Purple League’s top team handed the second lowest ranked Purple League team Klang United a 15-0 bashing in their tie held on Sunday in Sentosa Sports Arena.
Tan Chun Seang of Muar City started with a 3-0 victory against Shreyansh Kumar Jaiswal. Korean shuttler Kim Mun Hee then dismissed Yap Rui Chen of Klang United with 3-0 in women’s singles to put Muar City ahead with 6-0.
Han Sang-hoon/Lee Hyo Jung added another 3 points for Muar City after they picked up another 3-0 win against Venkat Gaurav Prasad/Juhi Dewangan in mixed doubles.
Both former Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) players Mak Hee Chun/Tan Boon Heong showed no mercy when they crushed Alwi Mahardika/Muhamad Hakem Bin Norrazi 11-4, 11-6, 11-8 to give Muar City a 12-0 unassailable lead before former world No. 1 Lee Hyun-Il closed the deal after he contributed another 3 points for Muar City against Gurusaidutt Rajah Manuri Venkata.
A comfortable 15-0 win saw Muar City further their grip on Purple League’s top spot with 44 sets difference compared to other teams in the league.
Meanwhile, Puchong United survived an almighty scare on Sunday as they needed their second men’s singles Hsueh Hsuan Yi to battle for full five set to prevail against Kepong BC with 10-9.
In a one-sided affair, Petaling BC revealed a thumping victory over Kajang BC with a final score of 15-2.
