Cardiff: After Malaysia’s Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Jemie Lai came from nowhere to upset No. 1 seeds Pranaav Chopra-Sikki Reddy of India in the mixed doubles final of Scottish Open in Glasgow last Sunday, Goh/Lai were slated to meet the World NO. 18 pair from India in the Welsh International semi-finals on Saturday again.Can Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Jemie Lai defeat Pranaav Chopra-Sikki Reddy again in Welsh?

Goh Soon Huat/Shevon Jemie Lai who jumped 117th spots to World No. 112 in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings, had pretty easy runs on Friday where they defeated Gaetan Mittelheisser/Emilie Lefel of France 21-17, 21-19 in their first match and overcame Pawel Pietryja/Aneta Wojtkowska of Poland 21-13, 21-8 in the quarter-finals.

Malaysia’s women’s doubles pair Lim Yin Loo-Yap Cheng Wen who bagged their maiden GP title at Scottish Open last week, showed off strong forms to upset the No. 4 seeds from Australia and Canada Leanne Choo/Rachel Honderich 21-15, 21-9 in the second round before registered a straight-sets 21-7, 21-10 victory against Alzbeta Basova/Michaela Fuchsova of Czech Republic.

However, Lim/Yap face an uphill battle in the semi-finals as they will play No. 1 seeds Anastasia Chervyakova/Olga Morozova of Russia on Saturday.
