Another Malaysian men’s singles player – 13th seed Tan Kian Meng outperform compatriot 4th Mohamad Arif Abdul Latif 21-16, 13-21, 21-17 in the third round to book a showdown with Japan’s Kazumasa Sakai on Friday.
In men’s doubles, scratch pair Lim Khim Wah-Ow Yao Han of Malaysia fought back from a set down to tame South Korean Chung Eui Seok-Lee Sang Joon 21-19, 16-21, 21-14 in 58 minutes. They will take on reigning men’s doubles world champion, the 2nd seeds Ko Sung-hyun-Shin baek-cheol in quarter-final.

Wong Fai Yin and Chow Mei Kuan powered past their mixed doubles Taiwanese opponents on Thursday, and will fight 6th seeds Choi Sol-kyu-Shin Seung-chan of South Korea for a spot in the semi-finals.
