Kuala Lumpur: Since the “sparring partner” conflict that emerged between technical director for the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) Morten Frost and Malaysian badminton superstar Lee Chong Wei about two weeks ago, Frost has been handling the whole situation in a respectful and positive way.The Morten Frost to Lee Chong Wei relationship is fundamental for their ultimate success on the court.

Surrounded by media at the Juara Stadium in Bukit Kiara, Morten Frost did not feel too stressed and stayed extremely calm about the whole incident.

“Let’s look at this positively, that conflict could serve a good purpose for us,” said Frost.

“Some amount of self-criticism is always necessary for us get to the root of a problem to prevent the problem from recurring,” added Frost.

“Furthermore, it’s really not a big issue. After Chong Wei’s eight month suspension, he has to start collecting Olympic qualifying points by playing in many tournaments. Hendrawan and I have decided to take turns to accompany Chong Wei to different tournaments.”

“After an 8 month absence, it’s not fair to expect Chong Wei to play like the way he played before the suspension. It’s not an easy task for him to qualify to Rio.”

Fortunately, Lee Chong Wei who currently ranked world No. 23 will be exempt from playing in the qualifying rounds at the upcoming Denmark Open (from Oct 13 to Oct 18) and French Open (from Oct 20 to Oct 25). With Hendrawan by his side at these two Superseries events, Lee is expected to produce better results at his two stops in Europe.
