Yeosu: The Malaysian men’s doubles team, Nur Izzuddin/Goh Sze Fei, are gaining momentum as they make significant progress to the quarter-finals of the 2023 Korea Open after being reunited.
Their success came after a hard-fought battle against fellow countrymen and sixth seeds, Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi, with a final score of 25-23, 21-15 in the second-round match at Jinnam Stadium, Yeosu.

However, a tough task awaits Izzuddin/Goh in the next round, as they are set to face the world number one pair from Indonesia, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto. Alfian/Ardianto secured their spot in the quarter-finals after defeating the Taiwanese pair, Lu Ching Yao/Yang Po Han, with a score of 21-19, 21-15.
On the other hand, luck did not favor Malaysia’s number one men’s doubles team, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik, who were eliminated in the second round. They were narrowly defeated by Japan’s Keiichiro Matsui/Yoshinori Takeuchi, with a thrilling final score of 21-19, 18-21, 19-21.
Similarly, the country’s women’s singles player, K Letshanaa, encountered a tough challenge against Taiwan’s champion, Tai Tzu Ying, and suffered a loss with a score of 15-21, 5-21.
