Kuala Lumpur: Determined to secure a spot in the upcoming World Tour Finals in Hangzhou, China, Malaysia’s world No. 2 Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik, are ready to unleash their best at the Japan Masters in Kumamoto, starting Nov 14.
With the last two tournaments, the Japan Masters and the China Masters, serving as crucial opportunities to accumulate points and secure a top-eight finish, the world number two duo is focused on delivering exceptional performances.
“We are currently in fifth position (final World Tour ranking) and on track to qualify,” explained Chia. “Therefore, these last two tournaments are crucial for us to confirm our place.”
“Our goal is not only to qualify but also to achieve the best possible results. We have qualified twice previously but have been unable to advance beyond the group stage,” added Chia. “It is essential for us to conclude this season on a high note before entering the new year, with the Malaysian Open as the opening tournament.”
Chia/Soh’s Japan Masters campaign will kick off with a first-round clash against the 2020 Tokyo Olympics gold medalists from Taiwan, Lee Yang/Wang Chi-Lin. Last month, Chia/Soh triumphantly ended their quest for a World Tour title by securing victory at the Denmark Open.
Eager to make their mark at the World Tour Finals, Chia/Soh’s determination to excel remains unwavering.
With their sights set on achieving badminton supremacy, Chia/Soh’s journey towards the World Tour Finals and beyond is poised to be an exciting spectacle for badminton enthusiasts worldwide.
