Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s reigning men’s doubles world champions Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik told Malaysian media that they would want to focus on their consistency on the court rather than thinking too much about their world rankings.
Chia/Soh achieved their best ranking since started playing together in 2017 at World No. 4 on the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings published on October 4th.
“For me, ranking is not the main thing. The most important thing is the results and our consistency on the court,” said Chia.
After more than a month of clinching the World’s title, Chia/Soh will return to the competition starting with the Denmark Open on October 18 to 23 followed by the French Open on October 25 to 30.
“Now we are preparing for Denmark and the French Open. We hope to produce good results,” added Chia.
“However, at the same time, we don’t want to put too much pressure on ourselves and just want to do our best. What we need to do is to always focus on every match,” continued Chia.
At the Denmark Open, Chia/Soh were seeded fourth and will open against the German pair, Mark Lamsfuss/Marvin Seidel, while at the French Open, the 2019 All England runners-up from Malaysia are scheduled to meet Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang from China in the first round.
