Kuala Lumpur: The Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings have remained relatively stable over the past week, as men’s World No. 1 Chen Long geared up to lead the BWF Destination Dubai World Superseries Finals that will kick off on Dec 9.
There was only one slight change in the top 5 men’s singles rankings over the past week, with World No. 3 Lee Chong Wei and No. 4 and Lin Dan switching places respectively. Lin Dan overtook Lee Chong Wei to move up one spot to No. 3 after he won the Brasil Open last week. Jan O Jorgensen remained in the second place, while Kento Momota still at the fifth place.
Carolina Marin remained the World No. 1 in women’s singles, followed by Saina Nehwal, Li Xuerui, Sung Ji Hyun, and Tai Tzu Ying.
Korean men’s pair Lee Yong Dae/Yoo Yeon Seong has continued their domination on an unchanged top 5 in the latest BWF rankings. Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan, Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen, Fu Haifeng/Zhang Nan, Chai Biao/Hong Wei rounded out the top 5, while Hiroyuki Endo/Kenichi Hayakawa still lingered just outside as the World No. 6.
The women’s doubles top 5 also remained unchanged, including Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi at No. 1, Luo Ying/Luo Yu at No. 2, Kamilla Rytter Juhl/Christinna Pedersen at No. 3, Nitya Krishinda Maheswari/Greysia Polii at No. 4, Tian Qing/Zhao Yunlei at No. 5.
Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei’s seven championships in 2015 allowed them to retain their healthy lead atop the mixed doubles rankings over No. 2 Liu Cheng/Bao Yixin, the pair they beat in the Hong Kong Open final. Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir, Joachim Fischer Nielsen/Christinna Pedersen, and Xu Chen/Ma Jin were ranked at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 respectively.
