Minor change to the top 5 BWF rankings ahead of the Dubai World Superseries Finals

Chen Long remains overwhelming favorite to win the Dubai World Superseries Finals.

Kuala Lumpur: The Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings have remained relatively stable over the past week, as men’s World No. 1 Chen Long geared up to lead the BWF Destination Dubai World Superseries Finals that will kick off on Dec 9.Chen Long remains overwhelming favorite to win the Dubai World Superseries Finals.

There was only one slight change in the top 5 men’s singles rankings over the past week, with World No. 3 Lee Chong Wei and No. 4 and Lin Dan switching places respectively. Lin Dan overtook Lee Chong Wei to move up one spot to No. 3 after he won the Brasil Open last week. Jan O Jorgensen remained in the second place, while Kento Momota still at the fifth place.

Carolina Marin remained the World No. 1 in women’s singles, followed by Saina Nehwal, Li Xuerui, Sung Ji Hyun, and Tai Tzu Ying.

Korean men’s pair Lee Yong Dae/Yoo Yeon Seong has continued their domination on an unchanged top 5 in the latest BWF rankings. Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan, Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen, Fu Haifeng/Zhang Nan, Chai Biao/Hong Wei rounded out the top 5, while Hiroyuki Endo/Kenichi Hayakawa still lingered just outside as the World No. 6.

The women’s doubles top 5 also remained unchanged, including Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi at No. 1, Luo Ying/Luo Yu at No. 2, Kamilla Rytter Juhl/Christinna Pedersen at No. 3, Nitya Krishinda Maheswari/Greysia Polii at No. 4, Tian Qing/Zhao Yunlei at No. 5.

Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei’s seven championships in 2015 allowed them to retain their healthy lead atop the mixed doubles rankings over No. 2 Liu Cheng/Bao Yixin, the pair they beat in the Hong Kong Open final. Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir, Joachim Fischer Nielsen/Christinna Pedersen, and Xu Chen/Ma Jin were ranked at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 respectively.
