Kuching: There are a lot of ways to get a player disqualified from a badminton tournament, Thailand’s women’s singles Nitchaon Jindapon was made ineligible for the Yonex Sunrise Malaysia Masters 2015 when her was entered incorrectly as Nitchaon Jindapol instead of Nitchaon Jindapon.
With respect to results in the qualifying round of Yonex Sunrise Malaysia Masters 2015 on Tuesday, out of 14 Malaysian men’s singles who participated in the qualifying, only Muhammad Shakhier Ruhizad able to make it to the first round that will be held on Wednesday.
Tan Gieen Wee and Teo Ee Yi were the sole Malaysian survivors in the men’s doubles as they defeated compatriots Mohd Razif Abdul Latif/Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif 21-17, 21-14 in their second qualifying match.
Malaysia’s mixed doubles pair of Lim Khim Wah/Lee Meng Yean managed to leap past Liang Jui Wei/Cheng Yu Chieh of Taiwan to qualify for the main draw.
However, it was a disastrous day for the host country Malaysia when all of its women’s singles and women’s doubles players failed to advance beyond the first day of competition.
On Wednesday where all first-round matches will be played, it’s going to be interesting to see how Malaysian shuttlers Daren Liew and Chong Wei Feng fare against Takuma Ueda of Japan and Sony Dwi Kuncoro of Indonesia. Other exciting matches to watch on Wednesday include men’s doubles between Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong of Malaysia vs Jun Bong Chan/Kim Duck Young of Korea, and the battle between Malaysian men’s pair Lim Khim Wah/Ow Yao Han and Andrew Ellis/Peter Mills of England.
