Kuala Lumpur: On Saturday afternoon, Puchong United BC saw its unbeaten streak go by the wayside in a 10-11 loss to Kepong BC, which finished the day on a 7-game winning streak.

Kepong BC, who started Nur Azriyn Ayup has no answer to Daren Liew of Puchong United in the first men’s singles match, losing 11-7, 5-11, 8-11, 8-11.Ow Yao Han (left) and Tan Boon Heong are one of the strongest men's doubles at Purple League

Then, Yang Li Lian of Kepong managed to capitalize on Lim Chiew Sien’s mistakes in the women’s singles match, to break back and level the score at 4-4.

In the first men’s doubles match that followed, Chua Khek Wei/Woon Mun Chun of Kepong were so rusty in their match and were sent packing their bags and heading home by Indonesian pair Agripina Prima Rahmanto Putra/Markis Kido of Puchong United 10-11, 6-11, 1-11 in just 18 minutes.

Andrei Adistia/Vita Marissa of Kepong came out firing to knock off Wong Fai Yin/Lai Pei Jing of Puchong United 11-9, 11-5, 11-10 in the mixed doubles match, to put the total score at 7-7.

Kepong’s second men’s singles Chong Wei Feng could have closed the tie against Puchong United as everything was looking so promising when he won the first set 11-8. But he appeared losing focus as Tanongsak Saen Somboonsuk fought back strongly to claim the second, third and fourth to put Puchong United ahead with 10-8.

The last match was between the experienced Tan Boon Heong/Ow Yao Han pair of Kepong and an up-and-coming Darren Isaac A/l Devadas/Tan Aik Quan pair. Tan Boon Heong/Ow Yao Han were simply too strong and their delightful smashes got just enough to defeat their Puchong United opponents to eventually hand Puchong United its first loss of the season in a 11-10 drubbing.

In an earlier tie on Saturday, Bangsar Hawks spearheaded by Zulfadli Zulkiffli and Indian shuttler P.V Sindhu finally stole their first win to defeat Cheras BC 13-10.

Petaling BC defeated Kajang BC 13-8 in another tie that was held Saturday evening.
