Kuala Lumpur: After dating for 10 years and proposing to his girlfriend in Australia last June 7 during the Australian Open, former World No. 1 men’s doubles player Tan Boon Heong officially tied the knot with his girlfriend Sherlyn Tan Yean Ling on Oct 24, 2016. The lovely couple had an unique Qing dynasty style traditional Chinese wedding ceremony on December 3rd marked by beautifully designed Qing dynasty wedding dresses; while a formal wedding reception was held in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, December 11.
The wedding reception in Kuala Lumpur was a starry affair as a lot of big names in badminton such as Taufik Hidayat, Tan’s future men’s doubles partner Hendra Setiawan, Mohammad Ahsan and many more arrived at the memorable and enjoyable event to celebrate and to bless the couple.
However, due to their scheduled departure for Dubai to participate in the Dubai World Superseries Finals, Tan’s former Malaysia national team teammates Lee Chong Wei, Tan Wee Kiong, Goh V Shem, Vivian Hoo, and Woon Khe Wei were not able to attend the wedding reception.
