Purple League: Muar City rally past Kajang

Even though Singaporean Ronald Sulilo lost the opening match to world number 13 Kento Momota of Kajang BC 5-11, 4-11, 7-11, other Muar City players  dominantly closed out their opponents by crushing Kajang 15-5.

Tai Tzu Ying of Muar City needed only 18 minutes to dispatch Boon Wei Ying 11-4, 11-5, 11-5 in the women’s singles match and to level the score at 3-3.

In men’s doubles, Chow Pak Chuu/Tan Wee Kiong of Muar City fought back from 1 set down to dispatch Afiat Yuris Wirawan/Songphon Anugritayawon 6-11, 11-10, 11-8, 11-9; while Chan Peng Soon/Chow Mei Kuan made it looked easy when they crushed Man Wei Chong/Chong Sook Chin in just 19 minutes. Both victories moved Muar City ahead with 9-4.

Former international Tan Chun Seang and reigning Malaysian champion Mak Hee Chun/Tan Bin Shen concluded the afternoon for Muar City in another blowout fashion when they walloped their respective foes in the second men’s singles and second men’s doubles matches.

With the win, the Muar City was able to hold off Petaling Jaya BC for the top spot in the Purple League rankings.

In another tie that started on Monday evening, with teams battling to clinch the top 8 spot to qualify for the upcoming Purple League Champions Challenge, Cheras BC spearheaded by Muhammad Hafiz Hashim have certainly made things tougher on Serdang BC when Cheras destroyed Serdang 18-4.
