“Our shuttlers’ performances have been up and down this year,” said Rexy Mainaky.

PBSI’s public relations officer Ricky Soebagdja also admitted the Indonesian athletes’ fell short of goals that were set by PBSI.

“We achieved our targets at All England and Asian Games, but we failed in Thomas Cup, World Championships, and the Super Series Finals in 2014. Overall the results of this year were less than satisfactory, especially at the level of the super series and super series premiere,” said Ricky.

“We will monitor and evaluate our shuttlers’ performance on a continuing basis to fine tune and improve their games. We also would like to emphasize that the role of the coaches is also very important for better achievement of our shuttlers,” added Ricky.

Meanwhile, PBSI already set up several milestones for 2015, such as the 2015 Sudirman Cup, All England, BWF World Championships, and a program specially designed for 2016 Rio Olympics.

PBSI also established a fitness tests system that allows coaches to identify athletes’ physical strengths and weaknesses.

“Our sport science team will monitor the results of this test, and the team’s physical trainer will train our shuttlers based on these results. We will increase our training intensity gradually ranging from nutrition, physical, psychological and others in preparation for the Olympics,” said Rexy Mainaky.
