Kuala Lumpur: Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) shuttler Goh Soon Huat remained on course to qualify for the semi-finals at the Sabah Open after a straight sets win over Chong Yee Han 21-13, 21-17 on Friday. Another BAM shuttler Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin also booked his place in the semi-finals when the seventh seed defeated Lim Chi Wing 21-12, 13-21, 21-14 in a hard fought battle that lasted 46 minutes.    Young guys like Mak Hee Chun (left) and Tan Bin Shen deserve a second chance if they could outperform their peers from BAM

 

Former world junior champion Mak Hee Chun and his partner Tan Bin Shen completed a sensationally shocking quarter-finals by upsetting second seeds Low Juan Shen-Ong Yew Sin 21-14, 21-13 in 25 minutes. They will play fourth seeds Tan Wee Gieen and Teo Ee Yi of BAM in the semi-final. Another men’s doubles semi-final tie on Saturday will be between top seeds Lim Khim Wah-Ow Yao Han and Ng Di Hua-Woon Man Chun.
