Kuala Lumpur: The reigning men’s doubles World Champions – Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik, and French Open women’s doubles champions Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan will look to end the year by making a mark at the BWF World Tour Finals which has been relocated from Guangzhou, China to Bangkok, Thailand.
Under the guidance of Badminton Association Malaysia (BAM) doubles coaching director, Rexy Mainaky, the two pairs have begun their training session as early as 5 am recently.
“Both pairs are in good condition and have not suffered any injuries,” said Mainaky.
“Aaron, Wooi Yik and Pearly, Thinaah usually start training at 5 am for an hour and a half. They would then take a break before resuming training with the other national players,” added Mainaky.
“They are fully prepared for the World Tour Finals. The focus now is on their mindset and how they want to motivate themselves.”
“I will help them with that before the tournament starts,” continued Mainaky.
Rexy also reminded the two pairs to be ready to face tough challenges in Bangkok.
“This is the World Tour Finals where the eight best doubles are in action. I have reminded them to be ready to face the most difficult opponents,” concluded Mainaky.
The upcoming BWF World Tour Finals have been relocated from Guangzhou China to Bangkok, Thailand, due to the various challenges brought about by the current COVID-19 situation in China. It will run from December 7 to December 11.
