Seoul: Korea’s World No. 9 men’s doubles player Seo Seung-Jae (partnering Choi SolGyu) who also ranked World No. 6 in mixed doubles (partnering Chae YuJung), received an 11-month suspension from the Badminton Korea Association (BKA) early February and was subsequently dropped from the Korea national team due to contract dispute with two professional badminton teams.
However, after the appeal made from Choi Sol Gyu and Chae Yoo Jung’s professional teams, arguing that the punishment of Seo could have severe impact on his men’s doubles and mixed doubles partners who were no fault of their own, BKA has decided to postpone Seo’s suspension after the Tokyo Olympic, allowing him to continue playing with the national team.
Seo Seung Jae together with his men’s doubles and mixed doubles partners are expected to play in the upcoming German Open, All England, and India Open in March. Seo has been training with Samsung Electromechanics team since being removed from the Korean national team.
