Changzhou: Came off of a 8 months long “vacation”, Lin Dan still showed good footwork, displayed poise in his drop shots and smashes, and kept his composure well. Lin Dan defeated Tian Houwei from China to lift the men’s singles title in the China Masters GP Gold.
The audience was expecting a tough game for Lin Dan, because it was Lin Dan’s first appearance in an international tournament since beating world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei in the final of last year’s World Championships in Guangzhou. On the other hand, Tian is the best players among the younger generation of Chinese shuttlers, he was victorious – in straight games – over all his opponents to reach the final. Furthermore, he was also the 2009 world junior champion.
Lin Dan had a good start in the first set, Tian fought back brilliantly to level the score at 7-7. Lin Dan then wasted no time to show his dominance by scoring the next 8 consecutive points, and took the first game 21-14 with ease.
Tian Houwei was really impatient in second set, Lin Dan took advantage of a lot low level mistakes made by Tian, and wrapped the game up 21-9 in style.
