KUALA LUMPUR: Koo Kien Keat, the once men’s doubles aces of Malaysia’s top men’s doubles players, joins Granula – a professional badminton club in Bangkik, Thailand.Koo Kean Keat looks happy after meeting BAM on Friday. He joins Thai badminton club Granular but will play for BAM if Malaysia needs his service.

 

Koo Kien Keat hope his move could rejuvenate his career in the doubles department, and he has started training with other players from the club such as Bodin Isara. Bodin is the Thai’s doubles player who was involved in a fight with his former partner Maneepong Jongjit at the Canada Open in July 2013.Bodin is currently serving a two-year suspension handed out by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

 

 

Kien Keat said he would focus on the mixed doubles for now, and he is open to the possiblity of partnering with Bodin in men’s doubles in men’s doubles after he is done serving.

 

Koo will team up with former international Ng Hui Lin  and they will particiapte in New Zealand Open in Auckland from April 14-19.Koo Kien Keat is excited and looking towards a good start with his new badminton career.

 

“I would like to see how my well I can perform playing mixed doubles with Hui Lin. The club is currently looking for players that could be my partner in men’s doubles” said Kien Keat.

“I’ve partner with Hui Lin before, if possible, I would hope I could eventually make the cut for the 2016 Olympi games in mixed doubles.”

 

In his 7½-year partnership with Tan Boon Heong, they have won a lot of titles, such as 2006 Asian Games gold medal and 2007 All-England title. Kien Keat also won bronze in mixed doubles with Wong Pei Tty at the 2006 world championships and won gold at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne with Chin Eei Hui.

 

Kien Keat also mentioned that he is willing to rejoin BAM if Malaysia needs his contribution.
