Jakarta: Chen Yufei of China defeated Carolina Marin of Spain in the final to win her first Indonesia Open title on Sunday.

The two players were neck-and-neck throughout the match, with Chen Yufei eventually winning 21-18, 21-19. This was the first time that a Chinese player has won the Indonesia Open since Li Xuerui beat Ratchanok Intanon21-13, 21-13 in the final of the 2014 edition.

Chen Yufei demonstrated her strong form throughout the tournament, especially when she defeated the red-hot An Se-young of South Korea in the semi-finals. An had won five titles this year.

With this victory, Chen Yufei finally won her first World Tour title in 2023. She will be looking to build on this momentum and continue her success in the coming months.

In mixed doubles, the World No. 1 Chinese mixed doubles team, Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong, won their third Indonesia Open title on Sunday.

Zheng/Huang defeated the World No. 3 Watanabe Yuta/Higashino Arisa in straight games, 21-14, 21-11.

This was Zheng/Huang’s third title of the year, after winning the Malaysia Open and the All England. They are now the most successful mixed doubles pair in the history of the Indonesia Open.

Meanwhile, South Korea’s Lee So Hee/Baek Ha Na defeated Japan’s Yuki Fukushima/Hirota Sayaka to win the women’s doubles title in a 68 minutes battle.

Lee/Baek won 22-20, 21-10 to end Japan’s four-year winning streak in the tournament. This was South Korea’s first women’s doubles title at the Indonesia Open since 2010.

Lee So Hee/Baek Ha Na are now the number two-ranked women’s doubles team in the world. They will be looking to build on this success and challenge for the Olympic gold medal in Paris next year.
