Kuala Lumpur: Returning to Malaysia on Monday morning from Suzhou, China, Lee Zii Jia went to Axiata Arena Monday afternoon for getting used to the venue, and informed Malaysian media that he will likely announce the identity of his new coach in the next few weeks.
Lee who was preparing for the 2023 Malaysia Masters which will be held from May 23 to May 28, revealed the latest progress of the coach search.
“I cannot disclose too many details at the moment. My team is negotiating with the new coaching candidate. I hope it will be finalized in the next few weeks,” said Lee.
“The Paris Olympic qualifying period has begun. The addition of this new coach would make my team more perfect,” added Lee.
“The new coach could help us plan for the tournaments and training, and also provide a clearer direction for us,” explained Lee.
“What I can say is that he is an experienced coach. Daren Liew is still new in the coaching field, and Daren will serve as the assistant coach and also my sparring partner,” concluded Lee.
Meanwhile, Lee who won all the matches in a straight set at the 2023 Sudirman Cup, said he was satisfied with his performance at the Sudirman Cup, but this week’s Malaysia Masters is going to be a brand new start for him.
“I played very well at Sudirman Cup, but, Sudirman Cup is now in the past. This week is a new start, so, I have to face the challenges again,” said Lee.
The World No. 8 Lee will take on World No. 12 Lu Guangzu of China in the first round of the Malaysia Masters.
