Taipei: The Tokyo Olympics men’s doubles gold medalists – Lee Yang/Wang Chi-Lin will not be playing together at the upcoming Denmark and France Open in October.

The Chinese Taipei Badminton Association has recently published a list of Taiwanese players who will be participating in the Denmark Open which will be held in Odense, from October 18 to October 23. The list included Chou Tien Chen, Wang Tzu Wei (men’s singles); Tai Tzu Ying, Hsu Wen-chi, Pai Yu-Po (women’s singles); Lu Ching Yao/Yang Po Han, Lee Jhe-Huei/Yang Po-Hsuan (men’s doubles); and other players in women’s singles and mixed doubles.

Instead of playing with his regular partner, Lee Yang will be paired up with Lu Chen in the men’s doubles event at Denmark Open while Wang Chi-Lin is recovering from his foot injury.

“I am currently under medical treatment for my foot injury. It’s going to take me more than a month to return to the court for training after going through the rehabilitation. I’m not going to register for tournaments in Europe this time, and I will wait until the Australia Open in November to evaluate my health and decide whether to play,” said Wang to Taiwan media.

Wang was previously diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and has been playing with the injury for a while before he finally decided to rest and take care of his body.

Meanwhile, Lee Yang said that although Wang needed time to recover from his injury, he would need to maintain the feeling of competition by signing up for the tournaments in Europe and partnering with his juniors.
