Malaysia Beat Sri Lanka 3-0, To Play England in the 2022 Commonwealth Games Mixed Team Semis

Birmingham: Malaysia secured a berth in the 2022 Commonwealth Games Mixed Team semi-finals as Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing, Ng Tze Yong, and Goh Jin Wei won their respective matches against Sri Lanka in the quarter-finals on Sunday.

World No. 9 Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing gave Malaysia a perfect start by overcoming World No. 143 Sachin Dias/Thilini Hendahewa 21-14, 21-14.

In the men’s singles match, World No. 44 Ng Tze Yong of Malaysia then scored the second point for Malaysia when he beat World No. 131 Niluka Karunaratne 21-5, 21-14.

In the third match, women’s singles World No. 53 Goh Jin Wei sealed the victory for Malaysia when she overcame Vidara Suhasni Vidanage who has no world ranking 21-9, 21-5.

Malaysia will play England in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, England put on a brilliant performance by beating Canada 3-0 in another quarter-final tie.

India will play Singapore in other mixed team semi-finals.
