Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s badminton legend and former World No. 1 Lee Chong Wei has revealed that it is unlikely that he will become a coach in the near term.
Lee posted the message below on his social media accounts in response to the news that there were several countries interested to hire him as their coach.
It is true I received offers, but I have no intention of becoming a coach for now, at least not this moment. I will stay in my beloved Malaysia with my family, enjoy Ramadan delicacies and looking forward to Raya open houses.”
Over the course of his phenomenal career, Lee has won a total of 69 BWF titles, with 47 of them from the BWF World Superseries.
Lee was the only player in the history of badminton to be ranked World No. 1 for the longest time — a total of 349 weeks and was also the only player in the history of badminton to become the BWF year-end World No. 1 for 6 consecutive years (2008-2013).
