Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s badminton legend and former World No. 1 Lee Chong Wei revealed that he has received multiple coaching offers from several Asian countries and is currently in discussion with some of those countries.
“I can only say that several Asian countries wanted me to be their national coach,” said Lee to News Straits Times.
Lee Chong Wei has been ranked No. 1 in the world for a total of 349 weeks, and won a total of 69 titles in his career, 47 of those were BWF World Superseries. Sure, his career may not be perfect, but really, who is? Nevertheless, he’s no doubt a once-in-a-generation player in the sport of badminton.
“Badminton runs in my blood. At this point, no decision has been made yet, but who knows?” added Lee.
“Right now, my family is my top priority. I have been focusing on my business since my retirement, and I am not looking for anything in a hurry. I am happy with my current lifestyle,” explained Lee.
Meanwhile, Lee’s former coach, Misbun Sidek, was positive about Lee’s capability as a badminton coach.
“Chong Wei was a great player and has a good analysis of the game, I see him more in an advisory or an analyzer role,” said Sidek.
