New Delhi: India’s 2019 World Champion – PV Sindhu, was ranked No. 7 in the latest Forbes list of 10 highest-earning female athletes in the world.
She was the only female badminton player who broke into the top 10 of the list with a total earning of USD $7.2 million.
According to Forbes, she only made USD $0.2 million from the prize money through competing at international tournaments. However, she earned a total of USD $7 million through various lucrative endorsement and sponsorship deals such as education technology company Byju’s, used-car platform Spinny, in addition to Li-Ning and Bank of Baroda from India.
Sindhu was no stranger to the list as she had appeared in the top ten list once in 2018. Entering the list also made her the highest-paid female badminton player in the world.
Tennis star Naomi Osaka topped the list as the highest-paid female athlete at USD $57.3 million, with just USD $2.3 million of that coming from prize money.
