The Sports Authority of India (SAI) Approves Kidambi Srikanth’s Coach and Physio to Travel For Denmark Open

New Delhi: The Sports Authority of India (SAI) has agreed that Kidambi Srikanth could travel to Denmark with both his coach and physiotherapist, participating in Denmark Open that will be held in Odense from October 13 to 18.

“The proposal to participate in the competition came from Srikanth, who has also requested that he be allowed to reach the venue early and that his coach and physio be allowed to accompany him for the tournament,” said SAI in a statement.

“However, their names are still to be decided,” it added.

Besides the 27-year-old Srikanth, World No. 20 women’s singles player, Saina Nehwal and World No. 27 men’s singles player Lakshya Sen have also been selected for the Denmark Open by the Badminton Association of India (BAI).

Meanwhile, India’s World No. 7 PV Sindhu, and World No. 28 women’s doubles pair of N Sikki Reddy/Ashwini Ponnappa have decided to withdraw from that tournament.

On September 15, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) announced in a statement that the 2020 Thomas and Uber Cup Finals have been postponed to 2021 and the Denmark Masters 2020 which was scheduled from October 20 to 25 has also been canceled due to concerns over COVID-19.
