Beijing: Last year’s China Badminton Super League (CBSL) defending champions Qingdao had very little trouble in their tie against Liaoning on Saturday as the Chen Long-led Qingdao drubbed Liaoning 4-1.
Qingdao got off to a great start with Zhang Nan/Luo Ying by beating Wang Zekang/An Yu 21-17, 21-10 to give their team a 1-0 lead.
Next up, Chen Long only needed 35 minutes to see off Zhang Weiyi of Liaoning 21-12, 21-8 to open Qingdao’s lead to 2-0.
Liaoning managed to steal a point from Qingdao when Guo Kaiyi/Sun Zhanming overcame Qingdao’s Qiu ZiHan/Guo Yuchen 21-18, 24-22 to narrow Liaoning’s deficit to 1-2.
The Qingdao team extended their lead to 3-1 after Hui XiRui demolished Xie Yang 21-10, 21-7 in the women’s singles match in just 22 minutes.
An Yu/Zheng Yuwen had no chance against the former World No. 1 women’s doubles pair Luo Ying/Luo Yu whose speed and agility easily took the match away from the Liaoning shuttlers. In the end, the Luo sisters sealed the match 21-13, 21-8 and Qingdao manage to extend their 8 tie unbeaten run in the 2016/2017 China Badminton Super League (CBSL) season.
On the contrary, in Lin Dan’s absence, Guangzhou team suffered their 7th loss of the season by going down 2-3 to Xiamen.
