Jakarta: Rexy Mainaky who lost his position to Susi Susanti as the head of development and high performance of Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) last month, has found a new job.
Rexy Mainaky who won the men’s doubles Olympic gold medal in 1996 with Ricky Subagja, drew a lot of interest from other badminton organizations after his tenure in PBSI, has decided to accept the offer from Badminton Association of Thailand of becoming their head coach.
“I will start the new position in Thailand on Jan 5,” said Mainaky.
“We’ve agreed to a 3-year term,” added Mainaky who was also former doubles chief coach of Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) from 2005 until 2012.
After he left BAM, Rexy Mainaky spent about a year with the Philippines Badminton Association before returning to his home country Indonesia.
“I have received a lot of offers after my departure from PBSI, and I’ve decided to go to Thailand because I like challenges.”
