Beijing: In the wake of Lin Dan’s extramarital affair with a Chinese model, his wife Xie Xingfang, former World No. 1 women’s singles player has decided to ‘stand by her man’ after the cheating scandal erupted.
Xie responded on her social media page Friday afternoon, saying: “Our family will support this man who has courage to take full responsibility for his actions to admit and apologize for his wrong doings. Thank you very much to everyone who expressed words of concern and encouragement. We will stay together and overcome challenges as a family.”
The two-time badminton Olympic champion Lin Dan and his former teammate, Xie Xingfang, got married on Sept. 23, 2012. The wedding ceremony was held in the Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium. They were seen by many as the golden couple of China’s badminton world.

Some Chinese tabloids also reported that in addition to the woman involved in the scandal, Lin actually has had multiple affairs with multiple women.
Meanwhile, some of Lin Dan’s commercial sponsors have already pulled back their supports for him. A car company called Dongfeng Motor Company has removed a huge Dongfeng Nissan billboard that has Lin’s image on it. The billboard was intended to be display in the 2016 Guangzhou International Auto Show.
