Beijing: In the final of the 2015/2016 China Badminton Super League (CBSL) , it had everything what the audiences come to watch for – thrilling matches, stunning comebacks, and deserving champions.
Qingdao Capital Airlines eventually notched up a convincing 3-1 victory over Hunan Riverside Group in the summit clash to clinch CBSL title on Sunday.
Lin Dan who played at the fourth event of the day, turned out to be the hero for the Qingdao Capital Airlines as he sealed the winning point for his side with 21-8, 21-12 win over Hunan Riverside Group’s Zhou Zeqi in the men’s singles match to cement a 3-1 victory for Qingdao in the final.
The night opened with the mixed doubles match between Lu Kai/Ma Jin of Qingdao and Zhang Wen/Huang Dongping of Hunan. Zhang Wen/Huang Dongping started aggressively while Qingdao duo Lu Kai/Ma Jin committed a lot of errors from the other end which made the opponents work easy as Hunan pair pocketed the first game 21-11 comfortably.
Zhang Wen/Huang Dongping started leading the second game and stretched it to 17-15 before Lu Kai/Ma Jin of Qingdao fought back and went on to force a decider by winning the set 21-19.
In the third set, Lu Kai/Ma Jin opened up a 11-5 lead and the Qingdao pair went on to win the game 21-12 to give Qingdao a 1-0 lead.
The women’s singles match saw Li Xuerui of Qingdao dominated her teammate in national team Sun Yu to win 21-18, 21-15, bringing Qingdao ahead with 2-0.
Down 0-2 in the tie, it was the Hunan men’s doubles duo – Chai Biao/Zhang Wen – that kept the hopes alive by beating Qingdao’s pair of Lu Kai/Qiu Zihan 21-15, 21-13 to trail 1-2 in overall score before Lin Dan then stamped his authority on the CBSL final with a straightforward victory in the men’s singles event.
