Kuala Lumpur: Chong Wei Feng guided Kepong to finish off a stunning comeback to beat Ampang Jaya 9-7 in the Malaysia Purple League on Sunday.
Kepong had fallen 6-7 behind in the contest after Panji Akbar Sudrajat, and Andrei Adistia/Soo Kar Seong were beaten in the first men’s singles and men’s doubles match.
But both Deng Xuan and Ong Jian Guo/Li Mei Qi combined to keep Kepong’s hopes alive with their wins in women’s singles and mixed doubles. Deng Xuan dispatched Hera Desi of Ampang Jaya 3-1, while Ong Jian Guo/Li Mei Qi overcame Kuan Kam Chung/Ng Hui Ern 3-0.
That left Chong Wei Feng with the chance to complete the comeback and the 2015 SEA Games winner put in an assured performance, beating Ronald Susilo 11 – 5, 11 – 5, 11 – 0.
It was the third time we saw a 0-11 score in one week, the first time was when Tam Chun Hei of Nusajaya BC clinched his first set with 11-0 against Mohamad Arif Bin Ab Latif of Cheras on Friday, while the second 11-0 happened on Saturday when Kim Mun Hee of Muar City beat Boon Wei Ying 11-5, 11-7, 11-0.
In other Purple League ties, Cheras BC trounced Serdang BC 15-4, and Petaling Jaya BC crushed Klang United with a thumping 13-4 victory.
