Jakarta: Indonesia’s 1-3 meltdown in the semifinal tie at Badminton World Federation’s (BWF) 2015 Sudirman Cup against China might not be a complete disappointment to the Indonesian team afterall.Jonatan Christie (left) and Firman Abdul Kholik are two young players with huge potential.

Although the Indonesian 2015 Sudirman Cup team had featured several veterans such as Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan up front, Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) already had a youth movement at work on the team. Emergence of young players namely Firman Abdul Kholik and Jonatan Christie at the tournament had helped to boost PBSI’s confidence to build for their future success.

 

A PBSI official – Achmad Budiharto said that they are certainly in a period of transition and rebuilding, and PBSI will continue to nurture young players and send them to future tournaments.
