Jakarta: While Indonesia is experiencing a major bottleneck in nurturing young and talented badminton players, as the host nation of this year’s Badminton World Championships, the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) is, yet again, to rely heavily on Mohammad Ahsan / Hendra Setiawan and Tontowi Ahmad / Liliyana Natsir to triumph in men’s doubles and mixed doubles in the world meet.Mohammad Ahsan (left) and Hendra-Setiawan (right) don't look happy in the Sudirman Cup award ceremonies. Indonesia’s team manager Rexy Mainaki said the men’s doubles and mixed doubles pair brought solid experience and were expected to be strong contenders for the titles at the world championships.

“We are targeting the men’s doubles and mixed doubles titles at the World Championships. We also have a real shot at women’s doubles title if Greysia Polii / Nitya Maheswari Krishinda are able to repeat the momentum as in the 2014 Asian Games,” said Rexy.

PBSI have set their final roster by sending 22 players to the world championships, including Tommy Sugiarto in the men’s singles event.

The Indonesian squad would play in a series of warm-up tournaments, namely the 2015 Australian Super Series, and the 2015 Indonesian Super Series to heighten their preparations for the World Championships that will be held in Jakarta from August 11 to 16.
