Kuala Lumpur: Former world number one Lee Chong Wei has dropped to No. 30th in the latest world rankings that the Badminton World Federation (BWF) released on Thursday.
It was no surprise that Lee Chong Wei’s ranking has dropped dramatically, because he has not played since last November.
Meanwhile, the second round exit from last week’s Singapore Open has little impact to Chen Long of China, because he still the world No. 1 men’s singles player with 88,961 points, followed by Jan O Jorgensen of Denmark, China’s Lin Dan, Indian Open champion Kidambi Srikanth of India and South Korean Shon Wan-ho.
India’s women’s singles ace Saina Nehwal also regained the number one position in this week’s BWF ranking, after China’s Li Xuerui dropped a couple of rungs to third in the latest list issued on Thursday. Carolina Marin of Spain climbed up one spot to rank No. 2, while Li Xuerui and Wang Shixian of China were ranked third and fourth respectively. Tai Tzu Ying was ranked 5th on the rankings.
In men’s doubles, Lee Yong Dae/Yoo Yeon Seong of Korea remained as the No. 1 pair in the world, followed by Mathias Boe/ Carsten Mogensen of Denmark, Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan of Indonesia, Lee Sheng Mu/Tsai Chia Hsin Taiwan, Hiroyuki Endo/Kenichi Hayakawa of Japan.
