Kuala Lumpur: Eight Malaysian shuttlers including a sole men’s singles player advanced further at the 2015 BWF China Masters Badminton Tournament held at the Olympic Sports Centre in Changzhou, China, today.It's a surprise to see Hafiz play at the China Masters

Former national men’s singles shuttler, Muhammad Hafiz Hashim who a received ‘bye’ in the opening round, easily disposed off Cheng Po Wei of Chinese Taipei with a 21-14 and 21-11 victory to set up a third round clash against Lin Gui Pu of China.

 

Lin marched into the next round after pulling off a suprise by defeating sixth seed, Suppanyu Avihingsanon of Thailand; 21-18 and 21-15.

Hoon Thien How and Lim Khim Wah who are making their first international appearance since leaving the Badminton Association Malaysia (BAM) last month, also cruised into the second round after demolishing Singaporean pair of Terry Hee Yong Kai and Hendra Wijaya;21-16 and 21-18.

Chooi Kah Ming and Ow Yao Han also made it into the next round after defeating Liu Wei Chen and Yang Po Han of Chinese Taipei; 21-18 and 21-17.

Tan Wee Gieen and Teo Ee Yi on the other hand, received stiff resistance from Chinese Taipei pair Chang Ko-Chi and Wang Chi-Lin before wining in 21-16, 15-21 and 21-17.

Compatriots Mak Hee Chun and Teo Kok Siang however failed to advanced further after losing to Japanese pair, Saeki Hiroyuki and Taohata Ryota in a rubber-set game;17-21, 21-15 and 20-22.

In the women’s doubles category, Chin Kah Mun and Chow Mei Kuan lost 15-21 and 13-21 to Chinese pair Tang Jinhua and Zhong Qianxin.

Four out of Malaysia’s five pairs also advanced into the second round in the mixed doubles category after winning their opening ties while Wong Fai Yin and Chow Kuan Mei were shown the exit after losing 8-21 and 13-21 to Zheng Si Wei and Chen Qingchen of China.

BAM did not send any representatives in the women’s singles category of the the Grand Prix Gold tournament which offers total prize money of US$250,000 (RM926,990).
