Kuala Lumpur: With rumors swirling and cloud of doubt hovering, the series of controversies over the mismanagement of Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), Lee Chong Wei said issues in BAM might cause more players to consider quitting.
“Players are aware of management problems at BAM, I am not 100% sure, but I heard more players will soon resign from BAM,” said Lee.
It’s been widely speculated that Tan Boon Heong will be the next shuttler to say good bye to BAM.
Meanwhile, Lee also expressed his dissatisfaction about his Badminton World Federation (BWF) hearing is continuously being postponed.
“I have not receive a firm hearing date from BAM yet, my patience is wearing thin, I may retire if can’t stand it anymore. Nonetheless, I’ll wait until after the hearing to decide on next step for my career,” said Lee.
Deputy President of BAM Datuk Mohamad Norza Zakaria hoped Morten Frost Hansen’s arrival in March could help BAM stabilize the situation in BAM.
“We urge players for their patience. We have made some adjustments including increased the benefits and allowances for the players. Morten Frost will able to systematically reviewing the strength and weaknesses of the players, and he will be able to create and to improve their competitiveness,” said Norza.
