Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has ordered Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) to get a firm date for Lee Chong Wei’s Badminton World Federation (BWF) hearing as soon as possible.
Vice President of BAM Datuk Seri Mohamad Norza Zakaria said he and Khairy discussed about this issue at Sports Arena Sentosa two days ago.
“I agreed with the minister that we need to speed up the scheduling for Chong Wei’s hearing,” said Norza.
“So far, no definite date has been selected yet, and we don’t know where the trial will be held.”
“We should prevent any further delay in Chong Wei’s hearing,”
“Chong Wei already missed this year’s All England; we need to address this matter quickly so that he will be eligible to compete in the Malaysian Open Super Series.”
Norza also hoped a prompt hearing could make Lee Chong Wei available when the official Olympic qualification period begins in 4 May 2015.
Some Malaysian media have speculated last week that Lee Chong Wei’s hearing has been set for second week of February. But so far no actual hearing date has been mentioned in any official announcement yet.
