Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s badminton super star Lee Chong Wei has expressed his concerns that coaches at Badminton Association of Badminton were left uncertain as they still unsure whether or not they will have a new contract in 2015.

BAM’s chief coach Rashid Sidek, men’s singles coach Tey Seu Bock, men’s doubles coach Pang Cheh Chang and women’s doubles coach Rosman Razak are among those whose contracts already expired on Dec 31.Rashid Sidek,Tey Seu Bock, Pang Cheh Chang, Rosman Razak (from left to right)

“The coaches’ morale was very low, and it’s totally understandable,” said Chong Wei while attending an auction event in Subang raising money for the flood victims in Malaysia.

“The coaches need to feed their families too, I really feel bad for them, and hope BAM could resolve this issue as soon as possible,” added Chong Wei.

“2015 is a critical year for shuttlers to collect ranking points to qualify for the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics. It’s important to work with these coaches to develop shuttlers’ skills and to assist in preparation of games.”

At the auction, Lee Chong Wei’s racquet and shirt were sold for the highest bid with total of RM25, 000.

Meanwhile, men’s doubles ace Tan Boon Heong’s racquet that recorded the world’s fastest smash in 2009, attracted a second highest bid of RM8, 000.

That charity auction raised total of RM40, 588, and all proceeds from the charity auction would be donated to relief efforts for the Malaysian flood victims.
