Jakarta: A total of 18 badminton clubs throughout Indonesia will be competing in the 2014 Prim-A Indonesia National Championships organized by Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI), from December 10 to 14.
“In this year’s national championships, teams are grouped into either division one or division two, “said PBSI’s Deputy Secretary General Achmad Budiharto.
How those 18 clubs were divided into two divisions depended on the number of shuttler each club able to send to the Indonesia national team.
“Clubs in the division one usually were able to supply a lot of players to the national team, while clubs in the second division only produced players that shine at state and regional level,” said Achmad Budiharto.
Some of the most prominent badminton players such as Hendra Setiawan, Mohammad Ahsan, Markis Kido, Tontowi Ahmad, Liliyana Natsir, Vita Marissa, Angga Pratama, Rian Agung Saputro, Linda Wenifanetri, and Bellaetrix Manuputty, will be playing for their own club respectively in the tournament.
