Kuala Lumpur — Defending champions Malaysia will clash with Indonesia while Thailand will play All-Star Asia in the semi-finals of the 2014 Axiata Cup at Kuala Lumpur Badminton Stadium, Cheras on Saturday.
Indonesia ended the preliminary round with 24 points to top the table, followed by the Asian All-Star team and Thailand in second and third with 19 points each.
Malaysia’s team manager Rashid Sidek admitted his team face a tough challenge in the semi-finals.
“We are expecting a very tough game agaisnt Indonesia. We will need to raise our game if we want to defend the title,” said Rashid.
“Hopefully we can deliver playing in front of big home crowds,” added Rashid.
The Malaysia vs Indonesia tie will be held at 3pm followed by Thailand vs All-Star Asia at 6pm.
The first semi-finals match between Indonesia and Malaysia will be played at 3pm followed by the second-semi-finals between 2013 runners-up Thailand and All-Star Asia at 6pm.
The final will be held on Sunday.
