Jakarta – Head of Development and Performance for Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) – Rexy Mainaky responded to the rumor that he may return to coach the Malaysia badminton team on Monday.
Malaysian media, The Star, reported last Friday that Rexy conducted a private meeting with the President of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) Tengku Mahaleel Tengku Arif to discuss the possibility of returning to coach the Malaysian national team.
When asked to confirm about that story, Rexy’s short answer was: “Haha, that newspaper The Star always making things up. I am surprised by that rumor too!”
Rexy still have the responsibility as Head of Development and Performance in PBSI until 2016. One of his many duties is to help Indonesia win gold at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Rexy coached Malaysia for seven and a half years until 2012,then made his brief stint at Philippines before PBSI President Gita Wirjawan invited him to go back to Indonesia.
