Kuala Lumpur: After two days off, Muar City BC, Ampang Jaya BC continued winning runs against their opponents on Wednesday.
The 2007 world championships silver medalist Sony Dwi Kuncoro of Indonesia who made his maiden appearance with Ampang Jaya BC, needed 5 sets to see off the tenacious Singaporean Derek Wong of Klang United BC 6-11,11-6,11-10,8-11,11-3 in the first men’s singles match.
Ampang Jaya BC surged ahead with 6-2 after Aprilia Yuswandari defeated Yap Zhen in the women’s singles match. After they were split up by Badminton Associatinon of Malaysia in September, Chooi Kah Ming-Teo Eei Yi got back together to chalk up a 6-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-4, 11-9 win to put the Klang United BC at 5-8.
Klang United BC claimed three more points through their mixed doubles before conceding the next two matches.
At last, Ampang Jaya came out as the clear winner with the final score of 16-9.
In the tie between Muar City BC and Cheras BC, former world number one Lee Hyun-il of Muar City BC was rather dominant when he crossed sword with 2013 All England champion Muhammad Hafiz Hashim. Lee collected three points for his team dispatching Hafiz 11-10, 10-11, 11-9, 11-7. Muar City BC went on to beat Cheras BC 16-10.
