Macau: By playing quick most of the time, the 2013 SEA Games women’s doubles gold medalists Woon Khe Wei-Vivian Hoo of Malaysia fought past fifth seeds Keshya Nurvita Hanadia-Devi Tika Permata Sari of Indonesia after a one-sided 21-8, 21-16 win in the quarter-finals of the Macau Open.Vivian Hoo (left) and Woon Khe Wei advance to the semi-final of Macau Open

 

The Malaysian duo pumped up by the win, will play qualifier Ou Dongni-Yu Xiaohan of China in the semi-final.

“We are not going to underestimate the Chinese pair, they’ve defeated the top seeds Luo Ying-Luo Yu, we are expecting a tough fight against them tomorrow,” said Khe Wei.

In women’s singles, world No. 11 Sindhu prevailed over the fifth seed Li Han of China 21-17, 19-21, 21-16 in a match that lasted over an hour at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion. The second seed will next take on Busanan Ongbumrungpan of Thailand on Saturday.

Men’s third seed H.S. Prannoy from India got the better of Indonesia’s Sony Dwi Kuncoro 21-19, 21-17 in 41 minutes in the men’s singles quarter-final. He faces Wong Wing Ki Vincent of Hong Kong for a place in the final. Xue Song of China will play South Korean Kim Dong Hoon in another men’s singles semi-final on Saturday.
