Sad end to Goh V Shem-Lim Khim Wah's partnership

Copenhagen: On Wednesday, Goh V Shem-Lim Khim Wah marked the end of their partnership with a loss, after awarded their opponents a walkover citing back injury V Shem suffered during the match.

The Malaysia pair already found themselves in trouble early in the first set as they were struggling to response to the relentless pace and chaos created by Taiwan’s Lee Sheng-mu-Tsai Chia-hsin. Goh V Shem needed medical timeouts when trailing 3-7 in the second set, but was ultimately unable to continue the match and had to concede defeat after falling behind 7-11.

“I was feeling the pain at the beginning of the first game when I tried to return shots from the baseline,” said V Shem.

“I injured by back at last month’s Glasgow Commonwealth Games, but I’ve decided to play in the World Championships since this is our last stint together as a pair, and it was sad that we ended our partnership this way,” added V Shem.Goh V Shem-Lim Khim Wah handed a walkover to Lee Sheng mu-Tsai Chia hsin of Taiwan

“It’s definitely a tough decision, I just didn’t want to aggravate the injury and jeopardize my chances in the Asian Games next month.”

As for Lim Khim Wah who will team up with Ow Yao Han after the world meet, have no choice but to accept the defeat.

“I was hoping for some good results in our last partnership but V Shem was injured and there’s not much more I can do,” said the disappointed Khim Wah.
