Kuala Lumpur: Lin Dan, the five-time world champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist has once said that Chong Wei Feng and Daren Liew are fortunate to have the opportunity to train and to learn from the world number one, Lee Chong Wei.
Lee Chong Wei is a player who understands what it takes to climb to the top. He has earned a lot of respect from his teammate for his strong work ethic, leadership and self-discipline.
The world number one always eager to share his knowledge and enthusiasm in badminton with his teammates. He would also not shy about getting on his teammates if they slacked off in training or matches. He scolded Daren Liew for getting carried away with his 2012 French Open title and lacked of desire of becoming an even better badminton player.
Chong Wei Feng also did not escape the attention of the world number one. After Wei Feng failed to bring back men’s singles gold in the Commonwealth Games, Lee Chong Wei gave him a pep talk and keep him motivated.
“Chong Wei knew I was disappointed after the failure at the Commonwealth Games. He wanted me to get better and come back stronger,” said Chong Wei Feng.
“I am grateful for the support of Chong Wei. He stressed that I should be more active on the court. I would do it at the World Championships,” added Wei Feng.
At the World Championships in Copenhagen, if Chong Wei Feng can make it to the third round, he will most likely face second-seeded Chen Long of China.
