Glasgow: The Malaysian badminton squad has been seeded first for mixed team event at the Commonwealth Games at Glasgow. Badminton is scheduled for 11 days, starting July 24.
Malaysia won the mixed team event gold in the 2006 Melbourne and 2010 New Delhiare games. Even though Lee Chong Wei will miss the Glasgow Commonwealth Games due to injury, but that did not affect the outcome of the ranking.
Malaysia are still being seeded No.1 due to total BWF world ranking points accumulated by shuttlers in five individual categories — Lee Chong Wei (men’s singles), Tee Jing Yi (women’s singles), Hoon Thien How/Tan Wee Kiong (men’s doubles), Vivian Hoo/Woon Khe Wei (women’s doubles) and Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying (mixed doubles).
England are seeded second, India third and Singapore, seeded fourth.
23 participating countries are divided into 6 groups, where the 6 group winners and 2 runners-up with best records will advance to the knockout phase. Each tie will be determined from best-of-five matches of men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles.

Scotland (5), New Zealand (6), Australia (7), Canada (8), Wales (9), South Africa (10), Mauritius (11), Northern Ireland (12), Sri Lanka (13), Uganda (14), Ghana (15), Jamaica (16), Barbados (17), Kenya (18) and Seychelles (19).
Countries such as Falkland Islands, Guernsey, Northfolk Islands and Jersey are also competition in the tournament.
