Jakarta: As many as 28 countries will be participating in BCA Indonesia Open Metlife BWF World Super Series Premier 2014 that begins on June 18.
“I will be focused in each game in order to pass the qualification round. I will try to maintain my performance just like in the previous Singapore Open,” Indonesian men’s singles player Simon Santoso said at a press conference in Jakarta on Monday.
Last April, Simon bounced back after a shaky start to the year, by crushing world number one Lee Chong Wei in the Singapore Open Super Series 2014 men’s singles final.
Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, a junior player who will be paired up with senior player Greysia Polii, said he would try his best in the mixed doubles in order to reach the final rounds.
Greysia said the tournament would be a great way for Kevin to gain some experience.
“We don’t have any pressure to win the tournament, so we can try our best,” she said.
Also on Monday, Kenichi Tago and Kento Momota, two men’s singles players who brought Japan its first victory in the Thomas Cup this year, said they would try to win each of their games in order to reach the final rounds of the tournament.
Momota said he would also be prepared if he met Lee in the tournament.
“My strategy is to play the game patiently in order to beat him,” he said.
