Lagos: It will be an all Nigerian in women’s doubles final at the ongoing Lagos International Badminton Classics.
Tosin Atolagbe and Fatima Azeez of Nigeria knocked off Jennifer Fry and Sandra Le Grange of South Africa 21-15, 16-21, 21-18 in the first semi-final.
Nigeria’s Dorcas Adesokan and Braimoh Maria then defeated the pair of Jana Ciznarova and Martina Repiska of Slovakia 21-9, 15-21, 21-16 in another semi-final to guarantee a women’s doubles gold for Nigeria.
In the men’s doubles, Nigeria’s Jimkam Bulus and Ola Fagbemi will set up a final clash with Andries Malan and Willem Viljoen of South Africa on Saturday.
In the men’s singles, Israel’s Misha Zilberman beat Rosario Maddaloni 21-17; 21-14 to qualify for the semi-finals. He will play Slovakia’s Jarolim Vicen who defeated Femi Bioku of Nigeria 21-10, 21-10 tomorrow.
In other men’s singles semi-final, Jan Frohlich from Czech Republic defeated Goivani Greco of Italy 21-17, 21-14 will play Luka Wraber from Austria who stunned Howard Shu of America with a 19-21, 21-12 and 21-19 victory.
